Review
"A must read for all those interested in nineteenth-century Atlantic history."--Ugo Nwojeki, University of California, Berkeley "Rafe Blaufarb and Liz Clarke have created an innovative and engaging teaching tool for the transatlantic slave trade in the era of suppression. It combines exhaustive research with accessibility, offers a superb overview of the traffic, and provides extensive original documentation of one of the most dramatic and poignant incidents in nineteenth-century maritime history."--David Eltis, Emory University "Drawing together Kru sailors, Sierra Leonean craftsmen, illegal French slavers, British anti-slavery patrol ships, a corrupt Guadeloupe governor, and British and French politicians, Blaufarb weaves a remarkable tapestry of the historical forces that transformed the slave trade in the nineteenth century. Inhuman Traffick offers a beautifully illustrated panorama of the Atlantic World during the age of emancipation, one that will appeal to students and experts alike."--James Sweet, University of Wisconsin-Madison "The use of graphic histories in the classroom is becoming widespread, and Inhuman Traffick shows why they can work so effectively to engage students. Like all of the best examples of the genre, Inhuman Traffick tells a compelling story through a complex interplay of image and text--it will keep students reading, and learning, to the very end."--Randy Sparks, Tulane University "Inhuman Traffick is a tour de force."--Rebecca Hartkopf Schloss, Texas A&M University "We are treated to the historical equivalent of 3D cinema as Dr. Blaufarb hits us from all angles: a traditional narrative that is concise and accessible; an innovative graphic history that brings the struggle against the slave trade to life; and a selection of primary sources that underscores the painstaking process by which historians explore the past. This is a truly groundbreaking approach to history."--Philippe Girard, McNeese State University "My students will be delighted to have Inhuman Traffick added to their reading list."--Patrick Rael, Bowdoin College

This book serves as excellent introduction to the slave trade in antebellum America by examining a micro-history. The book is well written and illustrated, and includes all of the primary source documentation as well as walking the reader through the process of research and writing. It would make an excellent book to assign to kids in high school up through graduate school.
Interesting read and book was in good condition
Required reading for my Human Rights class. Love this book, beautifully written and illustrated, and very informative. Would recommend.
Good book. Slow shipping
Informational, though at the time reading this as a college class was languorous. I would have read this if someone gifted it to me for freereading or group reading out of class
Over dramatized book on the slave trade and the British's role in it. Accounts this one specific instance of a ship being capture but overall is a boring read.
Historical essay, graphics, primary-source documents, gives a glimpse into the Atlantic World slave plantation supply complex, the transatlantic slave trade, and what the Royal Navy was doing to interrupt and stop ships crossing the Atlantic with slaves in the hold from the West Coast of Africa. The subject material is important but I didn't completely care for the graphic format, though very well illustrated. Thank you.
This book was requested for purchase in my Western Tradition History class , and throughout my reading I found that this piece was a great introduction to the beginning of slave trade , and inside of the graphic novel portion was illustrated views on the inside of what actually transpired . However , great parts of this time was left out , and portions were altered which made this book less interesting to a certain degree . I do recommend one learning about the topic to read it , however , there are other books based on the same topic with further more insight .
